hey guys my dad has a 1966 mustang w/ a 289 and water is not flowing through his engine and the water pump pully is real sloppy. could it be just the pully or the whole pump?

the pulley attaches to the water pump by bolts so doubt it's the pulley. is the thermostat opening up?

if the shaft is self has play, the water pump is bad. get a new one.

Make sure to take your pump off before you buy a new one. Some have backing plates on the pumps and some dont. But ya, bad water pump. Good thing you caught it before the fan hit the radiator.

I did that.. destoryed my brand new radiator when i broke my motor mount. Totally blew!
