I have racing seats and 5 point harnesses, and a 6 point rollbar thats about to be welded in. But i think the racing seats are VERY uncomfortable. Is there any problems with the shoulder straps while running the stock seats with the harnesses and a roll bar? (it has a harness bar btw)

I have a Kirkey seat but I still use a pair of two piece clamp collars like these on the harness bar to keep the belts from spreading.
Have you tried different race seats? I could fall asleep in my Kirkey seat (actually have) as it's comfortable. I also liked the Safecraft seats. You would need at least a tilt steering wheel or better, a removable one.
Before buying my seat, I asked to sit in a lot of people's cars before deciding on a list of seats. [ August 18, 2011, 12:38 AM: Message edited by: SteveL ]

Yes you CAN do it. Track Tech Legal, TECHnically NO it is not. UNLESS you can find a way to fix the seat to the rollbar (welding a bracket to rollbar and affixing the stock seat to that bracket). If you have no plan on going to a track or worried about tech, go for it!

I wont be going to a track event anytime soon, but the bracket for the seat will probably be the route i'll take since the stock seats are the most comfortable. Thanks for that info Matt.

It can be done and all, but from my limited experience street cars with cages are dangerous unless you are wearing a helmet..just something to think about if you ever roll it or get hit hard by another car (those bars won't feel good when your head is bouncing off your bars ..even with foam coating. Yes I got hit by a drunk driver while driving my Coupe off the trailer with no belts on and I had headaches for six months.

for one lee those are 4 points i dont see a crotch strap? someone makes a crotch strap bracket that goes from stud to stud on the seat track mount. and as for track legal no. seats must have three points of mounting. typically two on bottom and one on the back to the seat belt bar

Trust me, it hurts even WITH a helmet on.

I completely believe you:) and you got to remember most helmets are only designed for a single sided impact. Once the first hit happens anything else and the helmet is basically useless.
