what color is the speedo gear for 3.73 gears and how accurate is it? i swear i put one in my 95 but my speedo is 10mph off.

Trans, Tire Size and Rear Gear is what determines what gear you will need.

Its a t5, I am running 245x35x17(I think 35) and 3.73 geard

the closest you can get your MPH to read correct with what you have now (8t gear in trans)is to use a white 23t gear on the cable side, even with that its gonna be off.
you can get it alot closer with either a 7t gear in the trans and a 21t gear on the VSS side or 6t gear in the trans and a 18t gear on the VSS side.

that is a good question, its just a stock t5 from a 94 GT
but i have my 23 tooth gear in it and reads 5mph higher....best i can get it at

90 and up T5's use a 8 tooth gear in the tailshaft (drive gear) of the transmission
here is how you figure out what gear to use on the cable side (driven gear)
8 (drive gear) X 3.73 (gear ratio) X 849 (your tire rev per mile, 245x35r17) / 1000 (rpm) = 25.33 <<<< that is the tooth count for the driven gear you would need..... but the highest tooth count you can get for the cable side is a 23 tooth count, so its going to be off with your combination.
you could change the gear in the tail to get a better match. the very closest you can get is to use a 6 tooth on the trans side and a 19tooth on the cable side. 6 X 3.73 X 849 / 1000 = 19.00026 or 19

i wonder what gear i put in it before. i wouldn't mind 5mph off.
if the speed is off is also the mileage?
