So I recently swaped out the stock motor out of my truck (my brother cracked the head) anyways I decided to just change the motor it had 210k so the new motor has around 40k anyways it sounds good runs good but my temp guage goes up and down or just sometimes don't work. I don't want to drive it cuz I don't want it to over heat I'm just taking a precaution ppl. This has a temp sensor on the housing and one one the driver side also on the passenger side. I changed the sensor on the housing because that one actually reads the coolant temperature. So is there a short somewhere? Is something loose?

Kind of sounds like a faulty temp sending unit..is it a L4 or V6?

I believe this is your engine (top). This identifies where your coolant temp sending unit is for the gauge and not the ecu. Sounds like a bad sensor but cant say for sure without lookin at it myself. [ April 29, 2011, 06:32 AM: Message edited by: SLOWSN95 ]
