had the shifter in for about 2 months and still feels like it sticks right before it goes into the next gear not a grind but as if its bumping.if i shift fast i dont notice too much but im just wondering if i need to adjust or is this common for short shifters [Confused] [Confused]

im not sure whos yours is made by, but ive been comin across some hurst short shifters that shift like crap, just as u explain, but worse when tryin to shift fast. but no shiftin should be a breez

hmmm?? got my thinking i dont think it has anything to do with the tranny it was rebuilt by aaron ttop50 and yeah its not a grind you know maybe i just need it adjusted properly?? thanks for the input though man [patriot]

i didnt say anything about the trans itself., just maybe the shifter is crap,, the only adjustments i think u can do is the shift stops.

yeah just thought id throw that in there to rule out someone might ask how many miles on the tranny you know more info the better

yes sir sure is so you think that has a lot to do with it. ive had a few 5 speed cars but never a short shifter

hard to say unless i heard it my self. but a short shifter does feel different, maybe try some one else s car with variable short shifters maybe one like u have and see if there similar.

I use a MGW shifter in my car and it seemed to have a rather long break-in period, around 3 or 4 months. Never had the bump issue as you described. Your bump-stops are adjusted properly, or removed completely (depending on transmission)

I had a mgw in my mach 1 and it did the same thing until it fully broke in. It took about 4-5 months then it went away.
