I changed the timing belt on my daughters 2.3 Mustang, it was completely broken. I found several diagrams on how to line the timing marks up but only the crank and cam sprockets. There is a third sprocket about 5 inches round that no diagrams mention. It has a dot on the outer edge that looks like its used to line up with something. The engine runs good, just has a slight vibration at idle and I'm wondering if this has anything to with that not being aligned correctly. If anyone knows off hand or maybe has a Haynes manual that could check for me I'd appreciate it.

you just line up the distributor to #1. that gear doesn't care just as long as the dist lines up.

Sorry, I should have specified its a 93 so no distributor. I've got the crank and cam aligned correctly, just don't know what the 3rd pulley is for. I know some engines have a balance shaft that needs to be aligned to make the engine run smooth. I can feel a vibration at idle like a bad engine mount or something along those lines but everything is good.

That's kinda what I figured but was hoping I just didn't have everything aligned correctly. I know its her first car, I just try to hold it up to the highest standard I can..... its also got a very slight exhaust leak that annoys the shit out of me but no one else can hear it.
