So if I just want to do like CAI underdrive pullys and off road h-pipe, would it run like shit because of the SD or will I be fine with lite bolt ons?

stock tune SD is fine until you change the vacuum, so don't change the cam or heads without converting to mass air, or have a custom tune done.
otherwise, you can do all the bolt-ons you want, my `89 was SD for awhile and it ran really hard with an edelbrock performer intake, 65mm t/b, equal length headers and off-road mid pipe, pulley's, etc.

Yeah I just want to do like gas improvement mods to it for commuting. The car only cost me 1000 bucks so i dont want to dump hella money for mass air for it to run ok w/ bolt ons.
