so i just changed my stock intake manifold to a cobra intake manifold with a 70MM BBK throttle body. When i turn the car on there is smoke comin out the exhaust and right when i turn the car on it idles high then goes down after a lil while. What do you guys think this could be?

what color smoke? if its white its coolant and bein that you just changed the intake it most likely didnt seal right and your getting coolant into your motor, and as for the high idle it again doesnt sound like it sealed and you have a vacuum leak.

yea its white smoke. i had a problem with the lower intake manifold bolts, 2 of them snapped. the top right corner and the left bottom corner next to the thermostat are the ones that snapped, you think that could be it

ya thats most likely your problem, also i always run a thin bead of silocon around the water ports to ensure they dont leak. also dont use the rubber or cork front and rear lower gaskets, use a bead of silocon. i would pull it off lean it up really well and re seal it.

it wouldnt cause smoke and it might cause a lil bit of an idle difference but nothing to dramadic.

ok so heres a little update, i kept the car running a little but today because i thought there was just some coolant that spilled in there when i took the old intake manifold on, and now theres no smoke but i am having a little problem with the idling.

it idles high at first then goes down to normal idle then all of a sudden it goes up for a second again then goes back down. i know my timing is off right now but im working on getting that done. could that be a one of my sensors gone bad or something else.

i just left the car on for a minute and did my timing all over and adjusted the throttle screw. runs smooth and idles perfectly fine.
