I picked up a '65 Mustang, it didnt come with keys so I had to get new door locks and an ignition cylinder. after trying to put the ign cyl in the ign switch, I discovered somebody had put some other ign switch in, no clue where its from. so I got a new switch as well. open it up, and it's way different from what was in the car. this new one has 4 spade connectors, as well as a threaded rod on the back. the old one had 4 threaded rods, one in the center with 3 others around it. I've tried to figure out what goes where but I'm still not completely sure. Anybody know for sure what wire should be on what connector?
I found this pic and description:
 -

"The wiring connections on the back of the ignition switch are, from the top (clockwise): ignition out (pink), battery in (red), start out (purple). The center stud is accessory power (brown), which we capped with a rubber plug for safety."

I've looked at wiring diagrams, but the wiring has been pretty fucked with before so I can't rely upon wire colors [Mad] I tried hooking up what was there as much as I could. I know which one is from the battery. I'm pretty sure which one is the accessory wire. There's the pink "resistor wire" back there too. As for the one to the starter relay, that one was for some reason spliced into a red wire that goes to what seems to be a small relay under the dash, below the ign switch. No clue why. I tested for continuity to determine one end of the splice was going to the starter relay. I hooked it all up to the ign switch, turned the key, and nothing happened. However, I made a jumper and connected the "hot" and the Red/Blue I found that went to the starter relay, and the engine would turn over. [Confused]

Here's a diagram of what I have figured out so far from wiring diagrams
 -

Seems as though I have it wired correctly, but it wont even turn over unless I use that jumper. Any ideas?

Just looking over shit still, isn't that first pic wired incorrectly? From the wiring diagram, the top left should be the pink wire to the coil, and the top right should be going to the starter relay. Yet from their description, they have "ignition out (pink)" on the top right, and "start out (purple)" on the top left....

actually i'm still having problems...when I reversed those wires the starter would stay on constantly, with the key in the ON position. I've found that, when turned to ON, the Accesory stud and the connector for the coil have constant 12V. When I turn the key to START, the connector that is supposed to go to the starter doesn't have any power at all. I turned the key to ON, and just used a little jumper to go from the positive battery terminal to the terminal on the starter relay, and the car started and ran fine. WTF?? I went to AutoZone to get a replacement switch, and brought my multimeter with me to test the new one. I did a continuity test, and neither of the switches have continuity from the terminal that has constant 12V to the terminal that should have 12V when the key is turned to START. Is it possible both ign switches are bad? Am I going to have to rig up a button to start the car like the fancy race cars? lol

I have continuity from the wire behind the ign switch to the starter relay, and it's on the stud that's closer to the battery. im thinking I got two bad switches, since the terminal that is supposed to get power when the key is turned to start doesn't get power
