ive been doin alot of shit with this motor. the timing has been set to a very weird position. i dont know if this is necessary or not, all help is welcome! when i turn it to the right it begins to bog out. i also think the little black clip below the throttle body has something to do with it. 'cold start idol'? any information is helpful, thanks

Distributor position means nothing when it comes to timing. It's all about rotor position and cam install.

i moved the distributor back a tooth and it seems to be running better. idol is a little rough but i think its cause i have my car converted to massair and the sensor is no where to be found in the engine bay. any suggestions?

Are you checking the timing with a light or by ear? Not to be a dick but it sounds like your not quite sure what your doing, I'd get it to John B ASAP before you damage something. If you have the timing retarded it will usually idle funny, if you rev it up do the headers glow orange? if so then its retarded way too far. I saw your other post and just because there was a 92 motor put in your car doesn't mean they did a mass air conversion. Get John to check it out and save yourself a lot of trouble.

im using a gun and i tried to get john to check it out, we set something up and he flaked on me. im not the person to beg or bother anyone, so i just left him alone. but anyways, the computer was switched over with the 93 motor. i know this for a fact, i looked at the computer. eec-IV (A9L) and i do have knowledge of what im doing actually....

If you know what you're doing, you'd know there isn't a MAF installed and you need one with a A9-series computer. [Cool]

It's not a big deal. Yes, I work full time, am a single parent, and dedicate a substantial amount of time to this board as well as the people who are looking for/need help. The girlfriend does have a "slight" problem passing messages along, my appologies.

As for your car, a MAF will correct your issue, bearing in mind you have a A9L.

hey john i meant to call you but i was so busy this weekend i didnt have time to do anything with the car. but ide like to set something up if possible, let me know. also i think i figured out my rough idle problems....my friend came over and noticed my tps wasnt working, it actually wasnt gripping due to the plastic pieces being broken off inside.....so hopefully we can set something up and resolve this issue. i dont have a voltmeter and he says this is what i need to correctly tune the tps.
