I need to replace mine in the worst way before the winter. It is the stripping around the doors. My question is, is this something that is hard to do, or special tools and materials needed? Can I use the stuff they sell at autozone or do I have to go 50resto for it?

Any pitfalls or advice appreciated.

i went with 50resto, but im sure you could use the autozone stuff. its really easy to do, and no special tools needed. just a screw driver to remove a few panels, and something to cut the weatherstripping to size.

No gluing is needed. It should only take you a few minutes per side. It is very easy. Just loosen/remove the interior trim pieces that overlap the seal and pull the old seal off. Press the new seal into place, cut off the extra length and re-attach and/or tighten the interior trim pieces. The only trim pieces that needs to be removed are the plastic door sill and kick panel (if my memory is correct).
