Topic: Moving DIpstick 2 Front on 5.0L

I read in an article about having to move my oil dipstick location from the side of the engine to the front. It didn't directly say I must switch it but it seemed implied. Why would I have to. will it not go between my headers (seems like that wouldn't be a problem) I understand I have to switch the pan and oil pickup with the original 289 stlye to place in my 65' but I dont see why I need to move the dipstick placement?

Where does it say you need to do this? I've NEVER seen a dipstick in the front of an engine before. It seems impossible.

The 5.0 oil pan does not fit in a 60's Mustang, because it needs to be front sump pan to clear K-member. I already told you guy's this like three weeks ago. You just have to drill a hole in the timing cover for the new dip stick, it's aluminum so it's really easy.

I found out the reason why it must be moved is because the oil wont show on the stick on the side with the new pan thanks anyway.
Also do 289's and 302's have same bolt pattern for the oil pan?

I think all small block Fords have the same bolt pattern.

maybe you can go to a junk yard any find a longer dipstick then mark the full line
on the dipstick after

just get an older timing cover with dipstick and tube in it, much easier to do

actually the 85gt used an electric fuel pump an had rear sump pan with tube on the side.
the front tube oil dip stick is for the front sump pans used in early model mustang. cause the steering is in the back of the crossmember not in the front like rack an pinion. hope this helps

85GT was carbed and used a manual fuel pump, unless you had an auto car which had CFI and used an electric.
That is why I said 5 speed.
And yes it had a dual sump pan like all foxes.

Ive owned about 5 of them and all had manual fuel pumps.
check over on four eyed pride.
yours is a one of a kind then.
