ok so im wondering if i should do a cam swap with my non pi heads on my 98gt with a supercharger or just put a supercharger. the mod list is 373, c&l plenum, pi intake, pro product 75mm, bbk shorty headers, off road h pipe. is it worth doing a cam swap with the non pi heads? i dont want to swap to pi heads. not sure its worth time/money to put cams in npi heads. please help.....

IMO, put a Charger on it as is...it's not worth it for cams, PI's, and whatnot.

Vortech or the ProCharger system. I've done numerous installs of both, not to mention I've had both systems on my own cars. Can't beat the bang for the buck!!

If it isn't, you're driving it wrong. Every car I've put together has been at least a 11.95 or better.

You'd be close, even with a vert. But yes, 12's definitely!

ya they are pricy....i can get one for like $3600-$3800 for my car.....
but well worth it.... so i've heard.....self contained and comes with intercooler so its safer to run a lil higher boost, just safer period...
u think 11# will be ok on my car??

8psi (non-intercooled), 11 psi intercooled is about the limit, IMO, on a stock bottom end.
Check Craigslist, there are setups all the time for cheap.

Well, if we're talkin' a small block, you can do 12-13 and be ok...with the right tune. You can scratch the 24's and the CAI, they won't jive. With 10-12 PSI, 42's, and a safe tune, you should be around 410-415 rwhp. The induction system (H/C/I) will be the only thing holding you back from bigger numbers.
To give you a idea, I ran a stock bottom-end 302 with a TFS 1 cam, Edelbrock heads and intake, and 42's...all with 11 psi and turned 440+ rwhp. That was a SQ-trim.

You could run a FMU and take your chances, but I wouldn't. You can get a set of used 42's and a MAF for change...it's worth the piece of mind.

FMU = fuel management unit. It basically holds fuel line pressure under boost conditions so injectors don't run dry. Problem is, it's a vaccum diaphram...and when it fails, you won't know until it's too late.
