My 93 GT 5spd is having ignition/driving problems. For the first few blocks of driving the car doesn't want to rev much past 3000rpm and it is hesitating. After a few blocks or so it still has a little hesitation, but will rev to red line. Also, it has some pinging in all gears under load. Here's a list of things that have been changed. Injectors cleaned and the following new parts were put on in the past week: alternator, cap/rotor, 9mm wires, BAR sensor and ignition module. Timing is set at 10, but I have also tried 8 and 12, but it still pings. I am going to pick up a distributor today. Any suggestions......

The plugs only have about 2k on them and I pulled them yesterday and they look like new. No codes.

I will double check the plug gap. Fuel filter was changed about 2 months ago. It idles perfect with no surging. I've also cleaned the IAC and throttle body. When driving aroung 25-30 mph it hesitates or feels like I'm very littly pressing down on the gas pedal and then releasing. I am also running 91 octane gas. I'm going crazy trying to track down what is causing this.

It is. I would replace the fuel filter and pull codes.

You might have a bad mass air meter. Try removing the brain and clean the sensor with brake cleaner and compressed air.

I will look at the mass air meter tonight. The pinging started before I replaced any parts. For the past two weeks I've been trying/changing things one at a time to see if there is any difference. The pinging just won't go away.

I'm not sure how old they are. I've only owned the car for about six months. I know it did pass smog without a problem six months ago.

Thanks for all the input on my stumbling Mustang. I did not get around to checking everything out this weekend, but the problem has gone away!! The pinging has stopped and the hesitation is pretty much gone. [Big Grin]
