Just picked up some 18" rims(black w/polished lip) for my 96 vert. I plan on lowering with eibach sportlines and getting c/c plates...dont know what shocks/struts i should get yet...but as for tires...it has 245/45 17's on the stock rims...so i planned on getting 245/45 18's for the new rims. All the tire places ive been to keep telling me 245/40 18's would be equivelant to he stock size...but i dont know if thats what i want. 40's do look cool but i drive hard and dont want to risk damaging the rims with the 40 series. Also they are telling me I might have some rubbing issues with the larger tires(45's)... Has anyone experienced anything like this? Also what are some decent shocks/struts to get if i even need any(price wise)? Thanks.

What size are your rims 18X? I'm going to take a guess that you have 18X9's. The tire size that looks the best for that size rim is 285/35/R18. Thats the size that have and I don't have any problems when I drive my car hard. If you try to go with a 40 or 45 series tire you are more than likely going to be disapointed with the cornering performance, more side wall means more tire roll. You would also have issiues with the tire rubbing the fender wells,"depending on the width and hight". As for a good shock for a low price I gotta go with the KYB adjustable, their cheap and adjustable and performe well. I hade them and my car handled everything that I threw at it with ease. they're actually 18X8.5. 285/35 R18's sound bad ass.. but i wonder if 8.5 width can accomodate 285's. thanks anyways on the advise/suggestions.
