How can I can tell what kind of gears i have?

Those look like ring and pinion gears to me...LOL
....If you're asking about what gear ratio you have then just turn the driveshaft and count how many revolutions the wheels make...If it takes almost 3 turns then you prol have the stock 2.73 assuming this is for your 5.0...
You might also be able to check the top of the pinion gear and see if there are any part numbers or brand names on there...That might be hard to see without removing the differential...

Since you have the cover off, mark and count teeth on both ring and pinion and then divide ring by pinion.
EX: 41 teeth on ring / 10 teeth on pinion =
4.10
