is the holley 4180 my only option? its an 1985 ex chp 5spd car if that make a difference.

In terms of 100% smog legal, yes that's your only option. Some parts are interchangable between the 4160 so you can gain some performance there if you want to seriously modify the stock carb. If you're just looking for a simple way to boost performance, get a sendondary spring kit and get rid of the restrictive internal fuel filter and go with an inline one.
It only takes about 20 min to swap out a carb. Why not just buy a new Holley and put the stock one back in when you have to smog? Easy!

ya thats my plan but the car currenly has no smog on it so i need to make it smog legal first so i guess ill pick up a 4180 to get it smogged thanks for the help.
