Im coverting my 68 mustang to a t-5 and the only question i have is: will the starter bolt up to the new t-5 bell housing and the plate between them?

It should bolt up. You may have to trim the index plate, that's about it. Test fit the starter on the plate prior to the install. If it's the original starter, at least pick up a fox starter, they are pretty cheap!

68dustin,

need a bit more info to answer this question. you don't indicate what starter you have? Was the car a 289 or 302 and C4 trans before? If so, the starter will work. If you had a manual trans before you will need to do a little grinding on the starter lip.

So are you using a new T5 bellhousing with a cable clutch or are you going to use the old style lever system? I've got a cast iron 65' bellhousing with a T5 adapter plate installed for sale if you're interested.
