I’m thinking about changing out the stock fuel system on my 95331StrimVert from the tank forward with an Areomotive system. Changes will include Fuel Rails, Lines, Regulator, Pumps, and Tank. Does anyone know if this will be allowed by the CA Smog people? Has anyone been dinged with fuel system upgrades? Tell me your good and bad…

you cant have a adjustable fpr.

well i havnt had an issue with the current Kirban Billet Aluminum adjustable reg. and the car smogs clean with ease.

the kirban looks like the stock regulator but if its a aermotive like mine, they wont pass you becuase you can adjust the fp,

Does anyone know how well 42lb injectors will flow on the stock rails? Any tricks? My tune is with 36s and they are maxed @480rwhp...

42's should flow fine with the stock rails

525hp is awesome, who did your tune, and do you smog it? I'm concerned that making over 500rwhp on my Keith Kraft production based block could be detrimental... I heard story that the production based blocks don’t like to see 500rwhp... Any thoughts...

500RWHP is about the limit of a production 5.0 roller block.
Ford rates them at 450hp @6500rpm....that's flywheel HP....or ~395RWHP.
Behond 500RW the 5.0 roller block is a time-bomb. Some blow at 500RW, others last years at 550+RW...never can tell.

Mid 2006 Ford is releasing a budget 4-bolt main 8.2 deck roller block that can take 1000hp. No pricing yet....hopefully it'll be around the price of the overrated 'sportsman' blocks.

As for fuel system there are several things you can do to make the stock fuel system handle a little more power.

The restrictions in the lines/rails are the connections. Typical line connections measure .180-.200" ID. Pull off the lines & drill these out as close to .250" as possible taking care not to get metal shavings in the lines. The stock style fuel filter is also a restriction....open up the inlet/outlet of this as well to .250". These modifications should allow 550RWHP given a high volume fuel pump & injectors.
Getting the 36's to handle more power is easy as long as you have enough fuel pump (255LPH). Upping the fuel pressure from 40psi base to 60psi base will make the 36's act like 48's. Take into account that the boost reference line to the FPR increase 1:1 with boost. So, base FP of 40 w/10psi boost would yeild 50psi fuel pressure at full boost. Presonally I don't like pushing over 60psi max....however, the higher the FP, the better atomization of the fuel/air & the more power the injector can handle. FWIW, LS1's/LS6's run 60psi fuel pressure base...a lot of them with FRPP injectors. Most high impedence injectors can handle up to 80psi....behond that they may go static (stuck closed). Upping your base FP from 40 to 50psi (& getting A/F checked/tuned on a dyno) should be enough to push you past 500RW.

Just wanted to say thanks for the nice write-up. I'll consider opening up the lines, sounds like a good idea. Also in addition to the in tank pump I'm running a t-rex in line pump. And, I'm not using the FMU, as the car was tuned without it... currently I’m in the garage pulling the motor to replace the head gaskets that have finally gone after two years of getting on-it;-) the car has been a real kick ass thing to drive, but this last spring I started noticing a little bit of detonation near the redline or top of the power band. I tried to bring down the timing just a bit but most likely it was to little to late... my fuel pressure is currently at 36 or 38, hard to tell with those small auto meter gauges...
