I have an 87 5.0 and was driving it on the freeway fine without any problem, I took an exit an began to slow down. As I preesed in the brake the front of the car started shaking but i needed to slow down some more so i pressed in the pedal a little bit more and a loud sound came from the back of the car. It sounded like metal grinding against metal. Would could it be? Any ideas?

It sounds like your brake rotors are warped and/or your brake pads are completely worn down to the metal. Warped brake rotors would cause the shaking from the front of the car and the metal grinding noise can be from the worn out brake rotors scraping/dragging on your rotors. And if that's the case, you would need to change both your brake rotors and brake pads to fix the problem. I would start by checking all of your brake rotors and pads. That's just my two cents. Good luck.

I just changed out my brake pads(6 moths ago). But maybe they wore out fast i'll check them. What about the strange grinding sound coming from the back?

Check your brake rotors too because warped rotors can cause those same symptoms. Look for grooves or any kind of imperfections on the surface of each rotor, then check your pads.
