It looks like I have to cut a chunk out of the supercharger mounting plate to fit the smog pump... Is this common wtf? The instructions don't say anything about it, but the fact of the matter is, my smog pump (unless im retarded, which I might be... [Big Grin] ) doesn't fit.

Also, the cut and edges on the plate look kinda shitty, is this typical vortech quality control?

Are you positive you got the correct pieces? Sure sounds like the mounting plate is for a SN series Paxton...

Looks like a bracket for a 94-95? What year car are you putting this on, I am assuming 87-93?

In any case, cutting it wil solve the problem for the front plate. I am wondering though if the main rear bracket is an different?

compare to the pics here:

The plate in the first pic is a 94-95. The second one is a 86-93 plate. The brackets for the 94-95s will NOT work on a Fox..unless you want to change your entire acc drive system over.

Have fun cutting that plate! [Razz]

glad you have an attitude, cus you sure as hell don't have a clue about the bracket. That may have come of a 87-93 car, but no way did it have the stock smog pump. That is not a 87-93 vortech front plate. [Roll Eyes]

The only way that bracket in the first pic worked on a Fox is with the use of a smog pump eliminator kit...and extending the bolt for the pulley would be required.

And FYI, that bracket is homemade...Vortech cuts theirs with a CNC machine...not a jigsaw. [Wink]

John just out of curiosity why would it fit with the eliminator and not the actual smog pump?

Aren't the eliminator the same basic dimensions? Other than one flat and the other round?

This one although had the smog pump on it. So I dunno. [Confused]

The eliminator would fit due to the ability to use a longer bolt/spacer. Use a longer bolt, a bit longer spacer, and the pulley would ride on the outside of the bracket.
The eliminator is simply a block with holes, the dimensions are a bit different than an actual pump. [Wink]

[Embarrassed]

Yup just went and checked an eliminator out.

So any reason how this bracket worked with a smog pump?

I'm totally confused I do remember I had a tough time putting that pump back on the stock belt set up. Could it have been one from a different year?

I noted nothing different because every kit I've worked with seemed the same.

I know I'm my car it had an elminator on it. Maybe it was for this reason. But the car that this bracket came from had a pump. [Frown]

d-d-d-d-damnit man. [Frown]

I could see it working with a "j-bracket" but I'd also need a spacer to form the combined length of 4.05 inches. At least how I see it...

what's the deal though, let me know.
