OK well yesterday in about 100 degree weather my Mustang started acting up and the check engine light came on. What it would do is when i'd let out the clutch while giving it a little gas it would die. I'd ahve to rev it up to 2k rpm and then let the clutch out to get the car moving. i was in Concord so by the time i got home the check engine light was out but on the freeway coming home at 70mph the car would lurch and make a funny pop noise like it was missing. I pulled the codes this morning and i got the code 157 which is low signal from the MAF. Has anyoen gotten this code and what do you think it is? dirty MAF?

I remember reading how a rather severe (90 degree) bend before the MAF may cause it to get inaccurate reading however i don't know if this would cause the code to get thrown.....hmmmmm.

How does the MAF look inside visually?

Did you just clean and oil your K&N?

I haven't been able to do anything to the motor yet but when i bought it it had a K&N in it and a month ago i checked to see if it needed to be cleaned but it was still nice and clean. I don't know what the MAF looks like inside because its in some stupid case. I just pulled the codes to see what it could be i haven't had the time to really work on it. Atleast i got my Jeep [Smile] It started doing it though when i had the A/C on and once i turned the A/C off it stopped but then it started doing ti when the A/C was off. I have a couple of theories. i was just wondering if anyone else could give me more places to look.

I would take this time to clean your MAF out with some contact cleaner, when i cleaned mine, it was a world of difference in performance and gas mileage. [Smile]

I see that all the time. Two gaskets in the connector making for an incomplete connection. Glad you found it [patriot]

makes me wonder if someone put a different MAF on it at one time or if it is a different MAF.

Sux how it's always some stoopid little thing that gets the trouble shooting juices flowing...lol

I always tell myself to double check the work that is easiest to over look like gasket sealing etc.

Glad ya found the culprit.
