Okay I need some help and info ASAP. I'm a turbo guy and have been for years...so I need your advice on Supercharger kits.

I'm about to buy a used Procharger P1SC kit off some guy but I'm not sure what is supposed to come with the kit, and what in general usually comes with Supercharger kits.

So far I know this one has the head unit, all the bolts brackets pipes and intercooler plus FMU. What other things usually come with kits and what are the parts that need to be bought separately? What do I use or do for engine management, do any kits come with a MAF, injectors, fuel pump, FPR??

Please help me out and give me a quick Supercharger for dummies update on what I should expect in the kit and what is usually not supplied. Thanks! [patriot]

sounds like you got everything, i don't remember but i think a bigger fuel pump did come with our procharger kit but i am not sure.

Hmm maybe I made it sound a little confusing. So far I did NOT see a MAF, Fuel Pump, Injectors, FPR or anything else related to engine manegment and fuel other then the FMU. Do you guys know if any of that other stuff comes with the kit at all? [Confused]

Also what's the difference between 8rib and 12rib. The one I might buy is a 12rib unit, I'm assuming this is the number of ribs on the pulley/belt? The more ribs the less it slips or for higher boost I'm guessing?? [Confused]

The exact unit I'm buying is- 1986-93 1FA214-SCI HO Intercooled with P-1SC (12 rib) 14-20 psi 85%+ 2 core

Try going to ATI's web site and see if they have a parts list that you can download (Votech does on their web site). If they don't have one there you may want to call them and see if you can get one.

Make sure the kit you are buying comes w/ all the hoses, bolts, etc.

The FMU is the cheap answer to fuel management. For example, Vortech's kits include the FMU and an in-line, T-rex pump that piggybacks on the stock (or stock-replacement) pump. That's all the fuel management you get with a stock S-trim kit. Generally this is enough to satisfy requirements on a stock engine running stock boost output (6-8 psi).

If you've modified your engine, it's gonna be your responsibility to add all the other support equipment designed for the power range you're looking for, to include MAF, injectors, FPR, bigger fuel pump, bigger fuel rails, larger SC inlet plumbing (AFM's intake elbows, for example), etc.

Also the rib # denotes how many "ribs" or grooves on the SC's pulley and belt. More ribs = more surface area for more traction and less slip. Generally only necessary when running smaller pulleys (for more boost) since the smaller pulleys have less contact area for belt grip and slippage can be a big problem. If you go with the bigger SC pulley keep in mind you'll need the larger crank pulley, idler pulley (if applicable) and belt. Also, some SC kits require TWO mounting brackets for the SC, so make sure the kit you're getting has all the required parts. Replacements are EXPENSIVE ($250+ for ONE new bracket).

Also if you're running 14+ lbs of boost you probably wanna look into an aftermarket ignition system; at least a Boost Timing Master, which retards timing 1-3* per lb of boost.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the info. So I was right about the larger rib size. And yeah the kit I might buy does have all the brackets and pipes but I found out it's missing the 255lpg fuel pump, so I guess I can talk the guy down a bit on price.

Also the guy said he's selling the kit because he wrecked the car, but all the parts look to be in great shape and the intercooler doesn't have a scratch on it.....so I'm assuming it wasn't a head on collision. Would you guys be skeptical or worried about buying a blower that was on a car involved in an accident.....but nothing in the engine bay was damaged? [Confused]
