Hey guys,
My 95 GT's power steering return line (I think?) (the one located by the battery, is about one centimeter in diameter, plugs into the PS pump right under the fill port, and that sorta swivels around) has been leaking some fluid in the past. I can see a lot of fluid crap remnants that can be traced to it, but it's never leaking when I pop the hood. I was just wondering how big this problem was, and how I'd go about fixing it.

Thanks,
Ming

clean the area up and see how badly it leaks.
you can try and tighten the fitting, but that may only be a band-aid fix [Frown]

The one that swivels is the pressure line. The return line just has a clamp on it. There is an oring on the tip of the line that could be the culprit. If not, the line itself should be replaced. Are you sure it's the one leaking? There is a change that you could be blowing oil out the dipstick tube (Like me). It ends in about the same location....

Hmm, I'll try to take a look picture of it today, but yea, the PS fluid looks blacker than 1 year old oil =\

I'm guessing this means it was changed a year ago?
now was it completely drained? or just topped off? my shit was nasty when I changed it about a few months back.

I'm comparing it to like.. 1 year old motor oil, but I can't find my digital camera. I'll probably just follow the chiltons and bleed it.

Also, if you are truly having a Pinging issue, this can be also be caused by the samething causing oil to blow out the dispstick tube.....blowby....

just clean the PS area very well, and put it on a "leak check" period.
