This is something you might want to check out if you have not already

If your car is just running heads, cam and intake I wouldn't think the computer is the issue. Are you running the right spark plugs for the trick flow heads? This combo should run fine with the 94/95 computer

If you want to have Ray or I check out your car we could certainly look at it for you and also tune it as well. http://www.dynolabs.com

The plugs are the 3924 (autolites that are one heat range colder than stock). They are the correct plugs according to trick flow (called). I want to drive the car (even in its surging/sputtering condition) to break in the cam and will change the oil after 100-150 miles. Do you recommend the tweecer or the pro-m thing (I noticed on the link you gave)? How much does that harness/converter cost?

Sure that would be cool. I will give you a pm/email after the first 100-150 miles of driving. Where are you guys located?

I've used the PIH and it's worked well for me. I have never used the other system so I can't say. If I recall the PIH is in the neighborhood of $500 or so. I'd have to check the price to know for sure. Dyno Labs is located in San Ramon just off Crow Canyon. I would caution driving your car with it running like it is. It would be better on the motor to get it fixed and running right before too much driving takes place.

Hmmm AFR and trick flow from what I recall recommend 3924's for their heads yes. But this is usually for N/A motors and not for blown motors. A step down one heat range would be the part # below the 3924's

Pro-M has two versions listed. One is $279 and the other is $599 (yikes) to bring the 94/95 computer to 93 computer levels. I wonder if it would be cheaper just to buy a 88-93 computer and swap it out (not sure if that is even possible)?

Do you guys know anyone that is using the tweecer? I kind of like the idea of paying for it and not having to run back to a tuner who can name his price on the tuning (if you know what I mean). I'll probably have to read up on the tweecer. I was just hoping someone would chime and give me a jumpstart on the learning curve so I wouldn't be so intimidated initially... [Eek!]

Well the tweecer can be used to self tune the car from what I have read about it. The main reason why most people don't go this route is for the reason you mentioned. Theres a learning curve associated in doing so. One must understand all the parameters the system offers and also how to manipulate them for their given combo. If you've read up on the system and feel comfortable going about it than by all means give it a shot. I wish I could offer more help on this system but I have never used it. The PIH is required to convert to the earlier fox style computer as you can't just swap an earlier computer in without the conversion. $599 sounds about right cost wise which I know is spendy. Usually this kit is used on cars which are highly modified outside of what the 94-95 computer can handle.

I run a Tweecer on my 94Gt with around 430hp at the wheels. Its a great tuning tool if you are willing to learn it. The UI is pretty easy and there are a lot of knowledgable people on the mailing lists. If your first post is likely to be "can anyone give me a program for these parts" it's probably not the tool for you. If your post is more likely to be "i've put in the estimated injector slopes and played with the breakpoint and offset to get a relatively flat curve for fuel trims but I'm still way rich below 2ms" then it's the tool for you.

Now if you are like a friend of mine who modifies values just because they are there and you set the PIP filter such that you've effectively created a rev limiter at 4,000rpm... But I digress. [Smile]

Bottom line for me is that people that drive the car say it's manners are like stock.

I guess if you new to eec then those kind of general "newb" questions will come out of everyone at first. I am a newb myself having never personally tuned the efi of any motor myself, but I am a technical (techy) type of person that picks up stuff fast. I just need a general "turn in the right direction" introduction so I don't blow up anything [Big Grin]

Who has a tweecer here? I just want to sort of look over your should to see how it looks like and what kind of functionalities there are (sort of my introduction to it).

There is no need to break in a hydraulic roller cam, you just need to seat the rings properly.
