i'm looking forward to buying a 88 gt it's stock and it seems like a good deal with only 1 owner..the only problem is that i hope to put bbk shorty headers..bbk cold air...and pullys...and maybe a intake manifold and throttle body (not sure whether cobra..gt40..edelbrock)but any ways give me a heads up...back to my question i need it to pass smog i was thinking flowmasters because of the nice sound but i need cats and if i get headers i heard i need 4 catz i don't know what to buy or what exaust or even how many cats ..i hope someone will let me know something..

Do everything you mentioned but not from bbk. If you don't mind swaping pipes every two years get an offroad H and two chamber flows.
Oh and the gt40intake is just an overpriced cobra intake. You might want to wait on that one though.

For your exhuast I'd recommend FMS headers an off-road H-pipe and Flowmaster Cat-Back....
Like 87 Saleen said, if you dont mind changing your H-pipe every 2 years get the off road pipe...Otherwise, you can buy an H-pipe with 2 hi-flo cats that are 100% legal....
........I also agree with the BBK comment...

There are much better headers out there than the BBK's. Go off road on the pipe and just keep the stock one and switch it out everytime you need to smog. There are much better thing you can do for a stocker than a manifold. Let's get the car first then talk about what needs to be done

are you saying you want to do all of these things because you need to pass smog? or you want all of these things but you still want to pass smog?

I have bbk equal lenghts (got 'em for a steal) and like them, as well as an bbk o/r x-pipe, and I havent had any problems with them yet.
