Is the CES necissary on a fox? My clutch pedal assembly does'nt have one. Should I get one before I get the car running? Is this thing really important. I heard that this switch signals the motor that it will be under load. How realistic is its application? Peace

it is also a crucial piece for starting
basically if it isnt there it will start in gear, that is if u splice around it
plain without the car wont start

There is a neutral safety and the CES. The CES is on the left of the housing and the neutral safety is on the right. I don't know if they are independent of each other or not. I alway step on the clutch anyways. I just don't want my engine to possibly act funny if the CES is not hooked up.

I wouldn't worry too much....My friend never ran one on his 89 LX...As far as I know, you may get some detonation between shifts without it, but thats only if your timing is at the edge...
I'm pretty sure you can get the proper plug to bypass it from an AOD stang at the junk yard...The harness and connector/plug is taped up above the pedals next to all the wiring around the steering shaft.....

How do you know that was the cause of the pinging?

I didn't say it cuased his car to ping, I said, "you may get some detonation between shifts without it"...
EEC removes timing when the clutch is pressed in....

I'm just gonna find the piece and put it in. Where can the connector/plug be found at? I know that it has two/both red wires with a blue or green stripe. Thanks people
