Want to buy some AFR 185 for my 93 cobra, and want to eventually run either a twin turbo setup ( thanks rob lol) or a supercharger.....what cam specs will work with the charger and not having to notvh the pistons??
Anyone ever have their pistons notched while they were in the block
Oh yah...and takin my 44k original motor out and rebuilding it isnt an option..ill wait till it goes first---~ken

ken, i took this right from the fti website.
quote: Kyle Lewis in Texas bolted up a set of AFR 165 heads with an FTI custom camshaft into his 1993 Mustang Cobra and netted 318 rwhp and 348 lbft torque. Kyle has just started dialing in this combo and his best ET thru full exhaust and ET drags has been 11.90's at 113+ mph. Good luck Kyle and keep us informed.
Kyle's horsepower and torque increases are simply amazing! Here's more before and after data for you to digest...
~ At 3000 rpm the stock Cobra's numbers were 152.9 RWHP / 267.7 RWTQ and after the swap the power went to 177.2 RWHP / 310.2 RWTQ. That's a 24.3 RWHP / 42.5 RWTQ increase at the most usable rpm.
~ With the new combination, the torque band from 2800 rpm through 5500 rpm was over 300 LB/FT with a peak of 343.9 LB/FT at 4000 rpm.
~ Whereas the original RWHP peak was 255.6 at 5000 rpm it was now 318.4 at 5500 rpm.
~ At Kyle's shift point of 5800 rpm the Cobra used to have only 223.5 RWHP it now sports 314.6 RWHP! That's a 91.1 RWHP increase!!!

Apex Motorsports has a piston notching tool that will work with the short block in the car. To make those 185's not bog like a pig on a NA 302 the cam has to be decent.

You will definitely need to notch the pistons. I had a set of 185's and checked clearance with 54cc chambers and rolled the motor over and it'd still tap with the STOCK cam. The intake valve would touch above the stock eye brow.
