i have an aluminum radiator, 160 thermostat, mildon HV water pump, and an electric fan.
My car runs perfectly at between 160 and 170 when its moving on the street or on the freeway.
But the minute i hit traffic, or stop and go, it goes up above 200. Im thinking this may be a water pump issue. but im not losing any coolant, it just runs super hot when its in stop and go. Any suggestions?

It could also be a fan issue since it only happens when you are stopped. Can you adjust the setting on your fan to spin faster at idle?

Is your water pump underdriven?

200° isn't hot at all. Most cars normally run about 210°. If it gets to 240°, then I would be worried.

it goes well above 200. the few times its hit 240. ive killed it and let it cool down. i think i may either get a new fan, remove the thermostat, or put a fan in front of the radiator.
