Ive got a 99 F150 with some pretty good upgrades done to it. Has 80K on the eng & trans. Looking to either put a bottle to it or chip it. Theyll both cost the same but wanted to know witch would be the smarter to go with. Any advise or comments from people that have gone with either upgrades would be great.

a chip will net u 10hp, a little firmer shifting
the bottlr will add between 75-100 hp
the chip effects gas mileage, it goes down, i have had to truck with chips, both got better mileage without them
the nitrous is only there when u need it
get the nitrous, the chip is a waste of time
if u are not convinced, u can buy my chip

One of my main concerns is if the NOS will hurt anything mechanically in the engine or trans?

if you run the nitrous kit as perscribed you'll be fine, I've had my kit on since september and have sprayed at least once a week since then and my car still runs like a raped ape. Just run it how it is supposed to be run

Boxed, pre-tuned chips are pretty much worthless. You can do the same basically by advancing your timing and getting a FPR.
Burned chips to your setups are pretty effective, only problem is if you change your setup, you have to re-burn.
A modest shot of N2O is the way to go. Using the recommended jet and not using it every day, a stock block should have no problem on the juice. I used a 125 shot dry system on a stock 302 block for 18 months and had no problem.

I had the same hypertech chip on 2 of my 5.0's, and I felt pretty much no difference. I think it was like $350 new. Are chips for your truck that much more expensive?
The last time I checked, a nitrous kit was about $400 bucks, without the bottle opener, purge, heater, separate fuel system, etc. etc.
I'd get the nitrous. Nitrous is the one of the coolest things when its working properly.
