Which gears are better? I went to a shop today and they said it was an extra 50 bucks to install the ford racing. But Ive heard a lot of people say only use ford racing....opinions please!

I personally wouldn't use anything other than the Ford ones. Is it 50 bucks more labor or 50 bucks more parts? I can understand parts, but not installation....

That extra $50 is to pay for that pretty "Ford Racing" logo on the box.

Richmond gears in my experiences were always louder than the FMS gears....
I tried quite a few gears in my 94 and the FMS ones were the quietest...It wasn't the set up either (to my knowledge)...I took my car back to Rearend Specialt. 3 times and they still couldn't keep it from whinning, until I went with the FMS gears...

buy the ring and pinion, and the bearing kit, and the clutch pack kit (for the trackloc) and have someone on the board do the swap. much cheaper.

I'd say probably not since the miles are low. Are you doing one leggers? I just figured it would be good insurance since you're there. I thought it was only like $60 bucks. [ February 10, 2004, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: Chosen1 ]

that is complete bs because no matter what brand or make they are its exactly the same labor to install them.its just a ring and pinion.sounds like the dude is trying to make more money off you.
if you need them installed I can do that for you for $150.00 [ February 10, 2004, 08:46 PM: Message edited by: HaulnAssMaro ]

if u mean csm, california street machines, do not got there, lance will have u paying top dollar for nuthin special, he built my rear end, he put the wrong lug axle in (4 vs. 5 lug) it leaked within 5 miles fro mthe pinion, and took over 5 months to do it, and it was just a rearend
lesson learned, do it urself, have someone on the board do it for u, or go to mizzi's automotive and have it dont right hella fast for cheap
