Ok. I bought a pair of slicks. Now a lot of people on here are saying i shouldn't use the slicks with my stock car because i will break my rearend.... They also said i would need a drive shaft safety loop, sub frame connectors, stud extenders...... I want to know if this is all true.. I have a 2001 GT with only 1 chamber flows welded in and a K&N air filter.... I go to the track about once every couple months.... Does anyone have any proof to go with what they are saying... Thanks in advance to any one with any help.. This is my daily driver, i dont want to break it...

The way I see it if your going for real times and doing the old 5000rpm launch, you are buying time. Some guys go deep in the 11's and launch 500 times and some guys break an axle on the first couple of passes on their 13 second rides. It is a crap shoot.

Personally with what you have right now I wouldn't worry about it too much but when it breaks get yourself a new 31 spline rear end. I don't think it'll break though

Axels are a hit or miss. Some take years of abuse, some take days of abuse. If you have the stock 3.27 gears, I'd worry more about burning the stock clutch with slicks than anything else. Personally, I'd say go out to the track and have a good time since you won't be one of the 124 people at the track complaining about traction.
