What would cause a rebuilt trans not to be manualy shifted ,not from the shifter but from the trans.It only gets P and R then it seems to get stuck.Someone put in a quicksilver shifter but didnt do the linkage correctly.Would that ruin a TH350 with 0 miles ?

if you disconnect the shifter from the trans can you put the linkage into gear????

I took the linkage of the trans.Gear lever on trans moves only onto P and R.

sounds like the rebuild is bad is the linkage tight or loose you could pull the pan and check the retaining nut and check for binding on the inside of the linkage if there is too much slop.
