What I am looking to find out is not what is needed to do the swap but is their a way to run a stock hood and get it to fit. I already have the vetr mounts but was wondering about a shorter intake? Are some shorter then others. Can you mill some off the lower (I know it will change runner length) and save some room their? Any infor would be great!!

milling the intake (i wouldnt) will cause the the upper intake to get closer to the valve covers and maybe not leave enough room

maybe try ur gt40 lower with a box upper intake, that might clear the stock hood, its already a hopd up motor so that box intake will really make it fly [Big Grin]

the gt40 can fit, but youll have to modify the hood a bit. it will be very very close though. VERY VERY CLOSE. lol
but it can fit. if you want to see it, go look in the newest 5.0 magazine. its the blue 86 clone with a 388W in there. [burnout]

when we did my friends, we didnt even use the drop mounts the first time and it looked like it would clear even without his 2.5 cowl hood. Now that its dropped it will have plenty of room , and it has a box upper style intake as well.

Mines carbed, but the 351 still raised the overall height to where I can't close my 1 1/2" raised hood with the stock air cleaner.

Typicly a efi set up can be lower than a carb so I am hoping to make it work. I will run a raised if need be but would rather keep a sleeper look. Thanks for the info.
So who makes the over all lowest (shortest) upper and lower intake for a 351W?
