Well brought it into a shop to change it, and they might of installed it back wards, could this cause any serious problems?

I'm trying to think if the retaining clips will even go in if you install it backwards. Even if the shop did do that, it could cause you to have fuel delivery problems which means you'll be lean at upper RPM's.... if you only go a little lean you'll be prone to detonation..... so if you romped on your car for a long period of time with it detonating at upper RPM's, it could result in some damage.

Last time I checked, the fittings are different and you cant reverse the hookup.

If the filter for the SN95 is the same as the Fox it can be installed in reverse. The fittings are the same. I have one in my hands right now....& measured the ends with dial calipers....exactly the same dementions.

Yes, the diameter is the same, I knew that, but the spacing of the ridge that the clips clip on to is different if I remember right. One side is longer than the other so you can't lock the clip if entered backwards.

No. I measured that as well. Exactly the same.
Perhaps some filters are different...this was a Napa gold filter. I forget what company makes it. [ May 05, 2003, 03:04 PM: Message edited by: 93PONY ]

Maybe Sawson and I are both wrong, but I also thought the retaining clips were different and only allowed it to go on one way. I just threw my old filter away yesterday, ill dig it out and double check.

I'm pretty sure you can force it on backwards, but I seem to recall that there certainly was a 1-way mechanism to it in terms of some type of clip. Of course, some garage mechanics have probably broken those off already at first glance.
/shamefully looks away
