I was originally supposed to get 58cc AFR 165's, but they sent me the 61cc ones instead. Will there be any HP loss or gains, or there really isn't a differnece? Is there a way I can make the compensate for it?

You may lose a tad bit of power because your compression ratio will be slightly less now. If you really want to get back to 58cc's you can have the heads milled.

You plan on a Turbo system later right? The 61cc's will be fine. You'll lose a bit of N/A power, but trust me....you won't notice it.

I agree with Shaun. You won't notice that much of a difference.

Yeah, for boost you're better off, but not for NA. The difference is probably less than 0.5 MPH, but I don't know how 'picky' you're being with this combo. Your cam may have been ground with for a specific compression ratio as well, but I doubt 3cc will affect it much.

The cam will make plenty of cylinder pressure reguarless. The cam is.....well.... Lets just say it's about the size of the AFM N41, but will FAR out-perform it on this combo.

so we'll be going *against* the precedent with this cam 'eh?

The basics of the cam has already been proven in a local's AFR165 combo....I just added a 'touch' more overlap. Unfortunately, the rest of the combo will not be as stout as the local example....but I'm sure Glen will be happy with the results.
Joe....Imagine if you will, your cam basically reveresed & set on a 111ICL. It's very similar....perhaps a touch smaller at .006 & a touch larger at .200.
Shall we call it 'weak nuts #2'??? [ March 28, 2003, 11:37 AM: Message edited by: 93PONY ]

I don't think a 230/222 on my car would do anything but hurt power...
edit: I also expect my little cam to come alive with a 150 shot so to speak (as in nice exhaust flow for N20). have to wait and see on that one, not tomorrow but maybe next week.
my next step up is a little port work and some milling.
good luck with the results of course.
dyno it head to head with a B-303 if you want to see what it does for ya vs. a $50 used cam [ March 28, 2003, 12:32 PM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

Close....it's a 228/222 110LSA 111ICL The intake lobe is ~15 degrees larger then the B303's lobes @.200.
It's based on AaronC's first cam. Exact same intake closing & exhaust opening, but with 5 degrees of overlap instead of 1. His motor put out 340/340, but it had more compression, 1 3/4 longtubes & 2.02 intake valves.

Cool, I can't wait to see the dyno&track results in a few months. What are you trying to achieve with the 5^ vs 1^ that hi-tech went with?

On second thought.....let me do some digging/research & I'll get back to you.
That's an Ed C. style cam....it may get you what you want. I'll get back to you after I speak with the man himself.

Might as well send back the heads while you're at it and get the ones you really want.

Alright Glen, you're gonna run this cam! But, it's going to peak a little lower then the other cam & because your car is a pig you're going to have to make a few modifications. Here's your choices: 1. Get rid of the RPM upper & get a performer. or.... 2. Keep the RPM & get 4.10 gears.
Also, a 70MM TB is a bit big for the setup/weight.....a 65MM will be fine. One more thing....this is not a good turbo cam for later on. Good SC cam though!
