Author Topic: 4-cam Cobra motor diagnostics/engine knock questions phildog ¯ Member # 1214 posted                              My friend has a 97 Cobra convertible with very mild mods and a new, rattle/knock coming from his motor. The car still runs and drives fine, although he has since stopped driving it for obvious reasons. I believe it might be a valvetrain issue, an experienced motor tech thinks its a rod knock. I am new to the DOHC 4.6's. Where is a good shop to pinpoint the problem? If the motor needs to come out, who do you recommend to do a performance rebuild (in anticipation of a blower)? What is a ballpark estimate for parts and labor to do a tow in/drive out engine install on a Cobra, in addition to the assembled long block? Thanks for the info...
