i have a stock 50 except for full exhuast... i always run 91 at the pump so i wanna get a extra hp from bumpin up the timing but was told that its not safe to run with the timing bumped up all the time... what are your opinions...? [Confused] [patriot] thanks...

Try 14* first. If it doesn't ping try 16*. No harm will come if it doesn't detonate (ping).

Try it, you'll like it.

the OE timing pointer is basically +/- 2 degrees, just keep that in mind. Probably why sometimes 16 works for some people and only 12 for others.

A good timing light can tell you the actual timing, and doesn't need the balancer reading...

I would stick with 14.

i ran 16 in my car and had no problems, when i modded my car i had to retard it.

i drove my car eveyday at the time a 16 had no problems, put you timing at 16 and if your car pings retard it down to 14 and so on.
