Its coming from my dashboard where the AC vent is right by the windshiled. I can actually see air coming out of it when it is cold. Whats happening, and how can I fix it. But most importantly how much is this going to set me back. [Confused]

Sounds to me that if Radiator Coolant is coming into the car, and u can smell/see it. You have a broken Heater Core. This will be very expensive(if that is the problem) to fix, unless you can do it yourself. I know on my 97 F-150 it was 10 hours labor, and I think 6 on my 88 GT. But 94+ cars are gonna be more hours. I would expect about 8 hours of work.

My dad says that its some little radiator underneath the dash board. Or something like that. He says he can cut off a pipe or something. So that the air wont leak into the car. The only side effect is that I wont get any warm AC. Not like if I use it anyway. But is that even possible.

your dad is correct except it is a heater core not a little radiator. YOu are still going to have to rip the shit apart to put piping in. if doing that much work just put in a new heater core. Have fun!!!

I was afraid it could be the heater core. My dad is not the most patient person I know [Frown] .

your dad is a smart guy... it actually is a mini radiator... an electric fan blows air across it and pumps the heated air through the vents. You should bypass it since its leaking. On the passenger side of the firewall you'll see two tubes going into the firewall. Go to the harware store and rig something up in the shape of a "U" so the coolant doesn't make it to the heatercore. Its a classic redneck fix for this problem. Welcome to the club [Big Grin]
