u all saw my new stock 02...heres my problem, after i hit 500miles i started practicing launching and draggin. any launch above about 1700rpm and i go up in smoke, even with diffrent tire pressures.
Im thinking about investing in the Nitto 555 series but am not sure weather or not to get 2 just for the rear or all 4...and also ill be speeding, draggin, and cornering lots so which would u recommend the 555R Drag Tire, or the 555R II road course tire. (keep in mind im leanin more toward just 2 for the rear). thanx

well, i don't know what tires you need for "speeding" but I have nitto 555R 275/40/17s in back and had the kumhos in the front and it hooked pretty hard and still handled decently well for a stock suspensioned stang. Just remember if you get different size tires you will not be able to rotate them, but I didnt give a shit, so i now have 255 nitto 555 (radial) in front and 275 DRs in the rear. Good luck and practice at the track!

I just slip the clutch from 3500 in my dad's stock 02 and that works fine. You just have to get it going without dumping it(shocking the street tires). If you still want the Nittos anyways, you can go ahead and just get the rear ones and leave the stock fronts. You'll just have to heat the Nittos well at the track to get them to hook. I don't know the differences between the 555R and the 555R II, for the fact that the II is relatively new and I've only had the 555R's.
