I have a problem with the idle on my 88 mustang. i was told that it was my TPS so then i went and bought a knew one and set it at .98 and set the idle also about at 900, 950. but the car still surges. i checked all vacum hoses and they look fine. but i havent checked leaks at the monafold and it has been takin off recently too. so u think that a leak at the monafold will make the car surge. thanks mario.

Hey Mario, i was reading stuff on O2 sensors cause i think mine are messed up cause im getting really bad Miles Per Gallon. When i was reading i found that surging and hesitation can be caused by bad o2 sensors. here is what the webpade said.
The following symptoms will help tip you off to a failed oxygen sensor:

Surging and/or hesitation
Decline in fuel economy
Unacceptable exhaust emissions
Premature failure of the catalytic converter

the website i found it at is http://www.howstuffworks.com/framed.htm?parent=question257.htm&url=http://www.forparts.com/o-21.htm read what they say maybe this is your problem.
