It still uses a gear in the tranny but there is a sensor hooked up to the gear and sends a signal to the comp. then to the gauge. Hope this helps

Thanks, is the gear in the tranny tailshaft???

I already have the gear.

Just a thought too.....

Say u have stock gears and u put a 4.10 gear in. i know the speedo wouldnt be correct but wouldnt that keep your miles lower on the odomter than they really would be???

Yes- it's in the tailshaft...

No- it should be reading a faster than you're going speed after the install. This is just racking up those unused miles.

No, you would see like 80mph on the speedo and everyone will be blowing by you.

I wouldn't use a different plastic gear to adjust your speedo after a gear swap. Take it to a speedometer shop and have them make a mechanical compensator for you. I've seen too many plastic gears melt. It's not a matter of if, it's when. Sure they only cost a few bucks or so, but you will be changing it out more than once.
