Plan to be there looking for some consistent launches. Chirag plans to either bring his 331 stroker '67 (lookin' for 11's) or his "new" teal '93 Cobra w/ ET Streets as the only mod.

Hey Jim, How many people usually show up to these first few TNT's at sac? I will be at the one on 11/9 w/ hopefully a bunch of old mustangs from the Vintage Mustang Forum. None of them are that fast except maybe this one high buck '66 fastback has a 347 with a vortech, efi and one of those Electromotive D.I.S. Dont know if he will drive it hard though. I would love to see Chirag's '67 with that new 331.

Well, from the SR website- The calender says 10-3. The TnT/Grudge page says gates open at 9, racing 10:30-3. I like the calender better..

Jim- We kinda guessed Chirag's 331 would run 11's.... after his 302 ran 11's I'm curious to see what the Cobra runs. Didn't MM&FF with a 15 minute tune up, slicks and no belt plus all the other track tricks run a 12.9@102 with one? Or maybe it was low 13's?
Joe-I've seen too many trailored 13 second stangs at Sac in my life...they even had power addres... a black GT and a baby blue SN95 come to mind initially

every pass I take I risk another 13 second pass (bad launch, missed gear, etc.) and then the HONOR OF THE 13 SECOND TRAILER QUEEN IS MINE AGAIN.

Dang, you people are setting some highh expectations for my cars! LOL!
I havent been to the track in ages, prolly a year since i raced the 67. So 11's.... i dont know, i'll be happy with NO BREAKAGE! Shit last night I found a twisted driverside axle in the 67...and I havent even left the damn house yet! It's gonna be real tricky not leaving the rear end at the line with the torquy 331.
Hey sawson... what MMFF issue was that with the 93 cobra times? 12.9/102?! That cant be on stock 3.08 gears. I am thinking 13.80's @ 98-99 on stock gears and 60fts in the 2.0 range. But 12.90s...i just dont see how.

13.8 @ 98-99 is what a GT/LX should get with 1.9 ish 60's, not a cobra 13.5 or bust dude

With stock gears, stock weigh?! dude no way in hell.
I've seen plenty of high 13's on relatively stock LX's with gears, but with 2.73's or 3.08's.... havent seen it personally. [ October 30, 2002, 09:10 AM: Message edited by: 67stang ]

It was a '93 or '94 issue. It was against a LT1 or LT1 SS camaro shoot-out if I remember right. Evan Smith was driving it. I think it may have been a 13.2 instead of a 12.9. I'm sure someone on the corral remembers it (assuming the old timers are still around there).

If you included "stock tires" as well I'd totally believe you. On ET Streets, you should have no problem going 1.9 60' at least. couple years ago on a weaknuts HO motor I got into the upper 1.8x 60' range on ET Streets and 3.08s. I'll give you a hint--- you need a lot of rpm, lol.
also look at the weather, doesn't get much better. If it were any colder the track probably wouldn't hook as well. You've got a nice bright sun beating on the track to warm it up, and air temp around 50 degrees. Perfect.
edit: I predict 101-102 mph traps if you do the "15 minute tune". Much higher if you find pullies, ice, and a shortbelt [ October 30, 2002, 09:51 AM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

I've done it in my 90 GT. 13.9-100% stock with 225 radials. http://www.cafords.com/mpg/01_12_02/50brian_stocker_13s.mpg [ October 30, 2002, 09:10 PM: Message edited by: 5.0Brian ]

5.0Brian, If you are saying you ran 13.8 with a stock 89 (GT at that!) and 2.73 gears (are you sure?!) ... well kudos man, that is impressive. Who knows maybe I am underestimating what a 93 cobra can run with some hook.

No, I wish . It was a 13.9 in my 90 GT with 3.08's. That was with a 2.0 60 ft. Thanks for the compliments. It's all about the hook!

ya... that is still respectable, and i think a cobra can best that by 2 may be 3 tenths, but not 13.5's...

Saturday TNT's are the best, most of the time there is a small group so you get alot of runs in, not to mention that the cooler winter days help those E.T's!
