Hey Californian ford mustang guys need your help getting people throughout California to get involved with this Petition.
Link is on the bottom.
The Petition is made to show support to overturn the demolition of Irwindale Speedway. The 1/2 mile oval Speedway has been around since 1999 and the 1/8" mile Drag strip since 2001 Both the last facility in Los Angeles county. They want to tare it down to build a 700,000sq ft shopping mall ![[Frown]](frown.gif) . The location is not practical at all for a shopping mall as there is nothing around the area other than industrial storage and gravel pits... perfect area for a test and tune race track.
I've been going to dragstrip since 2001 and to see it go would leave a empty hole in my life. It's kept me off the street and allows me a place to race out my unsmoggable California fox bodies legally.
We don't need another hanna-barbera shopping mall! I know this is not a norcal dragstrip but any dragstrip in California should be protected by the people of California!
I don't mind driving 5-10 miles to the next shopping mail but I DO mind driving another 35 miles to another dragstip that's 65 miles from my home and that's close compared to other drag racers I know. The 1/8" mile track it so much fun and keeps you from really loading you engine and drivetrain after 3rd gear. The track is awesome and it best know for being a off the line race because if you can't tree someone off the line you most likely can lose a race in a grudge match. Thank you guys for your support

I know. Wish they at least try to work something out. Would be rad if they kept the dragstrip and used it to help promote there mall.
For you guys that never been to this facility they have a big electronic billboard that can be seen on the freeway along with the burnout smoke billowing of the dragstrip burnout box. It's not rare the fire dept gets called on. not yet anyways. Thank you all for the support.
Here's some vids of some Crazy runs I remember
Ricardo Juarez racing his Fox Rocket. At this track your crazy to go over 140mph as the catch net is a little more that a 1/8 mile pass the speedtrap. These runs are like 7 years ago and he since has gone in the 5.20's at a jaw dropping 153mph
