Right now im slowly rebuilding my 70coupe so when im able to drive again it should be good to go. my fmx was running fine when i last drove it but have seen a few running fmx for really cheap and was thinking pick one up and have it rebuilt add a shiftkit\converter.

i know there isn't parts for it like the c6 or c4 but the fmx can withstand some beating.

Does anyone here know of a transmission shop that works on them in the eastbay? (preferred)

Or should i go AOD with a Used AOD/parts from here and new lokar kick down, transmount, transcooler oh and new rear gears 3.90 or 4.10. The car is currently 3.00 open 28spline would be aliitle slow moving with the 3.00 i would assume

DO NOT waste your time rebuilding that FMX. They are really heavy.( cast iron case about 70lbs more then a C4) If it were me I'd put a 5 spd in it. But if you must put an auto in it a beefed up AOD would be your best option. I'm not gonna knock a C4 or C6 tranny. Hell both can handle a decent amount of HP/TRQ.

What are your overall plans with the car?
Did I mention you should put a stick in it? [Big Grin]

yeah i would like nothing more than to put a tko600 or t56 behind my "one day 408w";(miss my 96gt/cobra)
But with a Fubar back and this being my DD when i get me licence back. oh and kids a built AOD is looking the way it will be going in the future.

figure a bolton 351w shouldnt be to much for a fox aod. ive been looking and see decent one's lower mileage or rebuilt one's on here; can find most the parts on here for under 1g

www.clickclickracing.com is a good place to get info! Built aod here with non lockup converter, manual valve body, and tranny brake on My fox and it's fun to drive & like a stick without having to step on the clutch or let off the gas pedal!

Can't go wrong there I put 373's in my car over 20 years ago and it worked well from running high 14's all the way down into the 10's with the only change being a 27 inch tall tire to replace the 26's to give Me a little more usable rpm's at the end of the 1/4 mile.
