You have to go to the dealer you bought the car from to get it done.

You can do it over the phone. You have to deal with the dealership you bought it from. They will try to make it hard on you. Tell you you have to bring the car in and then do everything they can to talk you out of it. You are taking money out of there pocket when you cancel.

In california you can cancel an extended waranty any time. Some states once you bought it you are committed.

Call the dealership and talk to the finance manager. Tell him you want to cancel it. He has to. Let him know you know he has to.

A friend of mine just did this 2 weeks ago. The dealership was 180 miles away and he did it over the phone. Also his son is the gsm of a ford dealership and told him how to do it.

More than likely, yes. The loan is still based off the original financed amount. If someone canceling the extended warranty was smart and conscious with their money they would apply the refund to the principal, lol.

You can do it over the phone if you live more than 50 miles from the dealership I believe. The dealership will have you sign some stuff. Also the payment stays the same but your principal will be lower by the pro rated amount.

I did all this when I had my f-150.

that's if the cars paid off, if its not it just gets deducted from the principle amount.

It depends on who the extended warranty is through. I cancelled the one for my Mustang over the phone. Wasn't an issue, you just have to make sure you cancel it before it takes effect to get the full refund. Otherwise they pro-rate it.

Just went through this. We traded my wife's car in and told acura on stevens creek to cancel it. They told us we didn't have one so I did some digging and found the paperwork. I went in and now the finance manager said that he could email me the form and to have me send it back to him. I aske if he could just print it and he replied no, he can't until Monday. I asked so you can access it but can't print until Monday? Lmao so he said he'd found a loop hole and printed it

You have to go to your dealer... They will cancel it for you, but be careful. Lots of people get ripped off because dealers will cancel the warranty, the warranty company will send a prorated check to the dealer. The dealer sends the check to your bank or to you if the car was paid off. Sounds easy right???

NO....See most people see this and say okay, but your not done! The dealer made money on selling you your extended warranty, therefore they have to prorate their portion too. Most people don't know that, and most dealers try to keep their portion. This is not legal.

Excellent information.

How can I make sure I get the full amount? Do I have to contact the warranty company?

Thank you

Cancel through the dealership. That's how its done, but I'd also call the warranty company after you cancelled and request to see the report. The report will state how much your getting back from the dealer and from the warranty company.
