I have my 1970 Coupe that will need to be taken down to metal to be repainted my question pay for the parts on the car to be fixed from rust or slight collision damage / poor bondo work. or replace with parts with no rust and bondo. the price to replace these parts are looking to be 500 -1000 depending on seller and condition and how much crack they smoke on CL.
Damaged parts
rear valence - Revs lights rear bumper
front bumper and supports
hood found out the nose of the hood was bondo
Front valance drivers headlight bucket
on front 1/4 panels have rust on panel to near lower door area on both paint has chipped in some areas down to the metal and have rusted

If it was my car, I would try to keep as much original sheet metal, within reason of course.

I'd replace the valances and bumper items with new. Find an original headlight bucket. Repair the hood, 1/4 panels.

well 5 years ago it ran great put it away to work on the dd a bit last time i ran it was running wasn't to good i didn't think to check the carb lines and i guess fuel ate away at the rubber lines when i was driving(took me a min to figure that one out). so need a complete tune up timing checked; coolant flush fuel system flushed out. still learning pushrods since i worked on mod motors for the last 4 years(npi,Bhead)
Rust is mostly on back window area due to it having a vinyl roof, and spots on front quarters and doors on lower portion near the bottom of the doors. Frame is good rust is just on body panels
i put some pics of some of the rust spots unfortunately i don't have pics of the rust bubbles under the paint on the doors or qtr panels or a pic of the hood without plasti dip.

Depends all on what you want. I needed my fenders to get worked on but I just ended up buying new ones along with fiberglass goodies.

If it ran before you shouldn't have much trouble getting it going again. I'd fix all the rust and change the panels that need to be done with replacement fiberglass panels. My first car sat for literally 6 years and fired just fine with a little help of starter fluid.
I would also strip the paint and rust where it's at with maybe a steel brush or a wheel or something like that and primer it. Did that to my old 66 to prevent further rust [ 2014-07-08, 08:51 AM: Message edited by: Wht86drop ]
