Your suppose to appraise you car before it gets stolen. I think receipts will help up to an additional $3,000. Good luck.

Simple: If you don't pay for additional equipment coverage you won't receive the additional value.

Play their game... If they want to pay for stock parts, make sure they pay for oem parts and not cheap aftermarket or refurbished.
Really oem parts are just as much as performance parts.

If its body work/paint damage you don't have to settle for them just painting the bumper. You can always argue paint matching is not the best and can get a full paint job

While your at it, remind them the make of your vehicle and that your taking it to get repaired at that dealership $$$$

They most likely won't budge on paying for performance parts , but go with the highest quote have the insurance cut you the check...$$$$ aaaand you can afford your parts from there.

Progressive treats there customers like criminals, won't pay for anything until investigation is over and it's already been 7weeks and they said it could take over a month more. Fuck them, but always be patient and stand your ground "when needed"...always do research and act like you know what your talking about...
Stop calling them and start emailing them for proof of what they say..
They told me they would redirect payment on a rental (basically they pay for rental) and now they said he just mentioned it but didn't say they were going to pay for it...fuck that. On the phone it's he said she said. Email is key
And let's you respond when it's convenient to you while you think about it and not just blab something out.

You can learn a lot from search engines like I did if not insurance companies will walk all over you.

My insurance was tryin to fuck me over too but then I said the magic words "bad faith" there assholes tightened up and we came to what I felt was a pretty decent agreement. Try it out, I went all the way to the top of AAA, one guy thought he was the man and in control and wouldn't give me his supervisors name, I found it out anyways and like I said I had to go to the top before saying bad faith once I said that within 2days I had a check on the way.

this is from wikkipedia, i know they arent the best source..in my opinion its more like a scare tactics, and also prob depends on your insurance.. i had soooooo many recipts and pictures and they were just dicking me around, like i said i took it all the way as hgh as i could before someone i know who also works for an insurance company told me to try this and i did and it sped up the process for me....Insurance bad faith is a legal term of art unique to the law of the United States (but with parallels elsewhere, particularly Canada) that describes a tort claim that an insured person may have against an insurance company for its bad acts. Under the law of most jurisdictions in the United States, insurance companies owe a duty of good faith and fair dealing to the persons they insure. This duty is often referred to as the "implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing" which automatically exists by operation of law in every insurance contract. If an insurance company violates that covenant, the insured person (or "policyholder") may sue the company on a tort claim in addition to a standard breach of contract claim. The contract-tort distinction is significant because as a matter of public policy, punitive or exemplary damages are unavailable for contract claims, but are available for tort claims. In addition, consequential damages for breach of contract are traditionally subject to certain constraints not applicable to tort actions (see Hadley v. Baxendale). The result is that a plaintiff in an insurance bad faith case may be able to recover an amount larger than the original face value of the policy, if the insurance company's conduct was particularly egregious.

An insurance policy is a contract where you put forth your information and disclose your side of the terms (your driving record, type of car, where you reside, how your vehicle is driven/total mileage driven, who drives the car on a regular basis, etc) and the insurer agrees to indemnify you against whatever you sign up for (liability obviously + physical damage to the car if you choose to).

Now, like mentioned above they are required to hold up to their side of the contract if anything is to arise. A policy is meant to cover what probably 90-95% of cars out there are, a FACTORY STOCK VEHICLE. Commonly, part of the underwriting when setting up coverage is to ask whether the vehicle has been customized to A. Determine if its a risk they're willing to accept and B. Ask if you would like to add ADDITIONAL coverage ABOVE AND BEYOND what is in the standard policy contract, at an additional cost of course since premiums are based on a FACTORY stock vehicle.

That said, did you disclose any additions/customization to Farmers when you set up your coverage? Did you pay to add extra protection for said items? Do you have proof of any items (receipts, work orders, invoice, pictures, etc?) Given that nowhere in the standard policy contract does it say that they have to pay out for aftermarket items there isn't a straight cut way of requesting them to cover it, IMO.

I see this a lot where people incessantly will argue a point and bad mouth a company without having full comprehension of the situation at hand nor how the claims process works versus how they wished it worked. Its not meant to be a piggy bank or work to your benefit (for gain, I should say).

With how rampant fraud is nowadays insurance companies don't just hand out checks for large sums of money without doing their investigation first. This helps YOU the consumer out because fraud = drives up the price for EVERYONE'S insurance, so don't be too hard on them if you've got your facts straight and have nothing to hide. Don't be too yielding either as some smaller, no-name companies do have terrible claims service and will try to give you the least payout possible (experienced myself in the past). Farmers typically isn't one of those uber penny pinchers, I believe.

Anywho, sorry for the long winded response. That said, a buddy had his vehicle stolen and didn't have extra coverage for his wheels/stereo/suspension ETC. He created an itemized list of all the parts (make/model/description) with a cost for each and then eloquently and professionally typed up a request for a review of the payout which netted him 100% more payout (Yes, DOUBLE the original offer). These are individual people you're dealing with too, don't forget that. The nicer you are the more likely you'll have a better working relationship with them.

Insurance companies should pay out as fast as you paid them.
