Man, after a couple of months of getting everything ironed out, I am officially a licensed dealer.... Redline Autosports located in Livermore, CA. Getting to know the game right now as I am in start up and doing it by myself, but hope to start selling some stangs soon.

I'll only be dealing with used cars and motorcycles, otherwise, I would be all over it. [ November 22, 2012, 03:44 PM: Message edited by: Topete ]

It's a lot of paperwork like getting business license, fictitious business name, tax permit, etc plus fees. The hardest part is finding a place of business because you can't do anything without that, well, other than attending a dealer education class first.

For start up......In fees, your looking at $500-600. Next is the lease which could be anywhere from $1000 + month plus initial deposit. I had furnish my office so add $500. Then surety bond insurance $1500 followed by business insurance $ 250+/- a month.

Don't forget you still have to go buy inventory from the auction or private party's also do recon on the vehicles and put gas in Oh electricity oh law suits and when cars don't sell you still got to get new inventory pay rent pay insurance pay electricity pay fees.. List are endless .. But good luck on the new dealership

+1 great point 50 reasons, there are many aspects to the business. Not to mention the customer service part, vehicle maintenance and financing.
