Sittin around the house is killing me.
BUT, I came up with a great idea!! I am going to start gathering the parts, most of which I have, to build an engine run stand. This way I can break in cams (non roller) and start motors before they leave my garage to pressure check and test for leaks or any issues (besides your tune) since I will have to run and break them all in with carb and carb intake/dizzy but hey! What a piece of mind, right?

no pics but i used a engine stand with aluminum bracing up starting from the legs up front just to support the radiator, could of mounted one remotely would prob be a better bet. the one i did was for a Pontiac 455 so it had the chevy style starter to flexplate that could be used while on the engine stand. not sure and never thought what it would take for a ford where the starter is bolted to the bell housing. prob could chop a bell housing to just use the starter deal and might clear the stand? the rear of the stand up top of the legs was the battery and on the back top of the stand i just mounted a plate to hold the ignition stuff and gauges. it worked great , caught a oil leak in a manufacture defect of a weld on a milodon pan. and was able to make the carb adjustments very easy, was able to go over and re torque after the break in no time was great instead of leaning over a bad ass paint job, it was fresh black a smoky and the bandit car. i was so worried working around it to. one engine stand an about a 100 bucks in home depot metal scraps was all. i wish i did take pics. this was about 6 years ago and i just started takin pics a year ago lol. your crafty or i would love to help out if need. just the exaust was a pain in the garage, we had to get a big ass fan and vent some stuff to bring fresh air in and the old gas fumes out was all.

Im gonna use an engine cart I have that rolls the block around.
I am going to have it cut, extended then welded and use the 4 bolts that connect the bellhousing to the transmission, as the rear supports.
I will have to stand offs that swing out and pin in place for ANY other v8 I build that the starter bolts to the actual block to mount to.
Battery tray (plastic) with cables.
I have a few tachs and several oil/water temp gauges.
Gonna put a vacuum gauge too
MSD box
And I was gonna do a radiator but I think I will fashion some 3/4 hose threaded plugs attached to pvc piping that will interference fit into stems of upper and lower radiator hoses and secure with hose clamps then connect my hose.
I can even connect from my hot water heater so warn new engine up, quickly.
Cant wait to get started....
Oh yea,,,,,,gotta heal first.
And I cant weld worth a shit....

It's defintetly a good idea. I got something similar except for computers. It's a bench computer used to test parts and break in and calibrate lcd monitors. Looks like this
